Turn a PDF into Anki cards you can actually check
Upload a PDF, generate cards with AI, curate the deck, and download a real .apkg file. Every card comes from the document's indexed text, and the source page stays one click away. So nothing enters your Anki rotation on faith.

PDF to deck to Anki, in four steps
Upload the PDF
Lecture slides, a chapter, a review sheet. Scans are OCR'd automatically.
Generate cards
CruxDoc drafts question-and-answer cards from the material.
Curate
Edit, keep, or drop each card, and check any doubtful one against the exact page it came from.
Export .apkg
Import into Anki, or skip Anki entirely: spaced-repetition review is built into CruxDoc too.
Built for people who take Anki seriously
A bad card costs you every single review it survives. That is why curation and verification sit in the middle of the flow instead of being an afterthought: the deck you export is one you have already read, edited, and spot-checked against the source, not a model's unreviewed guess at your course.
Frequently asked questions
Q.01How do I convert a PDF to Anki flashcards?
Upload the PDF to CruxDoc, generate flashcards from it, curate the deck (edit or drop any card), then export as .apkg and import the file into Anki with File → Import. The whole loop takes a few minutes.
Q.02Is the export a real .apkg deck?
Yes. A genuine Anki package file that imports directly into desktop Anki, AnkiDroid, or AnkiMobile. CSV export is also available if you prefer building the note type yourself.
Q.03Does it work with lecture slides and scanned PDFs?
Yes. PowerPoint and Word files are converted and read the same way as PDFs, and scanned pages go through OCR automatically before cards are generated.
Q.04Is it free?
Card generation and .apkg export are part of the free plan (10 documents, up to 1,000 pages each). Your first document needs no account.
Q.05How is this different from other PDF-to-Anki tools?
CruxDoc is a full document workspace, not a one-shot converter: the same document also answers questions with page-verified citations, builds exam-mode quizzes, and supports blurting. So you can check any card against its source page before it enters your deck.
